Feedback from the Trade on Their Plans and Interest in the USA Pear Season:
Since March, there have been no import records of U.S. pears, although some retail channels still have remaining inventory. Retailers noted that overall sales performance in Taiwan’s retail market has generally been weak after the Lunar New Year. Although U.S. pears finally had a more stable supply this year, overall retail conditions have similarly affected their sales. If U.S. pears can maintain a stable supply and offer reasonable pricing in the future, retailers remain very willing to continue selling them.
Expectations for Any Freight or Logistics Challenges:
Recent ocean freight logistics have been stable, with no reported delays from industrys. Similarly, the surge in local logistics demand in Taiwan before the Lunar New Year has eased afterward, and the overall situation is now stable.
Opportunities in Your Market for Specific Varieties, Sizes, and Grades:
Sizes #100–120 of Red Anjou and Green Anjou pears continue to be favored by the market. In particular, Anjou pears have more stable quality and better storage durability compared to other varieties, making them easier for traders to promote.
Update on the Competition in the Market:
New Zealand pears began arriving in Taiwan in March and are currently being sold in wholesale markets, but have not yet been listed in retail channels. PBNW-Taiwan will stay in contact with retailers and monitor the sales performance once New Zealand pears enter retail channels.
Political or Economic Issues Impacting Imports, Retail, or Consumer Behavior:
Although the Taiwan government has indicated that U.S. pears will soon be subject to zero tariffs, there is hope for increased import arrangements for the new season after summer. PBNW-Taiwan will arrange trade visits for the new season as early as possible to better understand import plans from industry players.
