Feedback from the Trade on Their Plans and Interest in the USA Pear Season:

While Red Anjou pears continued to arrive in Taiwan in mid-February, traders rushed to unload containers and launch the products on shelves before the Lunar New Year. PBNW-Taiwan closely monitored distribution status across retail channels and maintained ongoing communication to arrange promotional activities as needed.

Expectations for Any Freight or Logistics Challenges:

During the Lunar New Year holiday, logistics services operated at a minimum level. As a result, most products remained in logistics warehouses awaiting to be shipped out. Full logistics operations were resumed on February 23, and warehouse inventory was expected to be cleared within approximately one week.

Opportunities in Your Market for Specific Varieties, Sizes, and Grades:

Retail price fluctuations influenced purchasing decisions among price-sensitive consumers. Sizes #100-120 were generally more favored by the market. In addition to pricing considerations, consistent and stable quality appearance remained essential. Fruit with noticeable external damage was likely to be rejected by consumers.

Update on the Competition in the Market:

Retailers indicated that during the Lunar New Year holiday period (February 14 to February 22), the fresh produce market was relatively slow. Therefore, once the inventory remained after the holiday, they planned to continue cooperating with the PBNW on promotional activities to stimulate sales of US pears.

Political or Economic Issues Impacting Imports, Retail, or Consumer Behavior:

As the zero-tariff announcement was released shortly before the Lunar New Year, most industry partners did not have sufficient time to discuss response strategies. PBNW-Taiwan continued to maintain close communication with trade partners, monitored US pear import volumes and distribution dynamics, and remained prepared to cooperate on promotional programs as appropriate.
