2025-2026 season for USA pears in India has ended and no more new shipments are expected. Small volume of Green Anjou and Red Anjou Pears from USA is available in the major fresh fruit markets in India.

Opportunities in Your Market for Specific Varieties, Sizes, and Grades:

There is very good opportunity for both Anjou and Red Anjou in the Indian market. This year also there was a clear gap in the market in December and January period and easily more loads of USA pears could have been sold.

Update on the Competition in the Market:

This reporting period saw the new seaosn pears from South Africa arrive in the market. Varieties currently available are Packham Triumph and Rosemarie (Sempre). Banned Shandong Pear from China is also available in sufficient volume in the fresh fruit market of the country. Packham Pears from Argentina is also available in limited volumes.

Political or Economic Issues Impacting Imports, Retail, or Consumer Behavior:

US India trade deal has been announced but finalized. Details are awaited.

Overall, Indian importers have been very happy with the arrival quality of USA Pears this season. The confidence in quality that Indian importers have experienced augurs well for the future.
